We worked in teams of 10 so that we could finish in one day. Here are the dual language word walls going up, along with pages that will be a student created alphabet. See the labels on the table? That was my job.

Went to a great workshop for Primary Centers. At the end of the workshop, we teamed up and organized a new teacher's classroom for centers. Our new teacher just arrived from overseas. Here are some before pictures:

Learning Stations/Word Work

This is a screw/nail organizer from Amazon. I spray painted it and added letter labels. Here it is on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Akro-Mils-10724-24-Drawer-Plastic-Hardware/dp/B00012FQEM/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1344388275&sr=8-13&keywords=screw+organizer.

I can send you the word document to label the drawers if you like. Just e-mail me:Mrs. N

Reving up for a New Year!

                                                      INSPIRATION FOR FALL 2012

It started innocently enough with this IKEA rug for the reading area.

Then, I made some owls for the bulletin board with this template from
Sunflower Story Time.

Then, there was the Dollar Tree and Target's dollar spot, a stop at HomeGoods. I needed a tree for my owls, right?

Meanwhile, they are installing tile flooring in my room at school so it still looks like this:

Current Pictures!

Here is my new word wall! I'm going for a clean look this year. This was accomplished with painters tape (cheap) in less than 30 minutes. I used a yard stick to measure off the grid.

This is my morning meeting board. I went through the activities from left to write.

Accountable talk, rules, Bloom's, and the purple cloud is for objectives.
The green laminated scrapbook paper is for student work. The numbers were made by a teacher friend.

These were our free choice books last year. I let them chose books for their individual book bags then we switched them out every so often. It was tricky to find books by subject though... we can do better this year!

I printed book labels from the Two Sisters website. It's on the subscription side but you can find many book labels for free on TPT. For more info on organizing your classroom library: http://www.thedailycafe.com/public/Organizing_the_Classroom_Library_VIDEO.cfm
Please, ignore the computer cables! I used colored dots from the office supply store to mark the tubs and the books. I also wrote numbers on the dots. It should have made it simple to keep the books in their tubs. I did borrow older students to help me sort them out from time to time.

Looking back...

With a new school year just around the corner, I wanted to look at last year's classroom.

These were taken with my phone so not the crispest image. I don't remember it being so cluttered. Hmmm... The tubs on the tables worked out well for me. They hold pencils and a pink pearl eraser in a pencil box and a school supply box holds crayons. We tucked in workbooks and spirals and library books in there too, uh that was a little crowded. But, all that stuff was handy and easy to tidy.

Then there was the front of the room. Carpet Central. Whooo that's a lot of stuff on the board!
